Learnership Requirements – What You Need to Qualify
To be eligible for the Econofoods Learnership Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (must be certified, issued within the last 6 months).
- South African ID copy (if using an ID card, both front and back must be submitted; certified and recent).
- Not currently studying or enrolled in any other education or training programme.
- Must reside in one of the following provinces:
- Gauteng
- Free State
- Eastern Cape
- Willing to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Must be available to start on 01 August 2025.
- Able to travel to Econofoods stores as required.
- Commitment to complete the full 12-month programme without interruption.

Stipend and Compensation
All successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of R4,000.00, which is intended to support learners during the course of their training. This amount helps cover basic travel, meals, and related expenses while gaining valuable on-the-job experience.
