About the Department of KwaZulu-Natal Learnerships Programme

The Department of KwaZulu-Natal aims at teaching talented individuals about the workplace and delivering skilled experts within medical industry. This Learnership program also aim to make all Healthcare assistance freely accessible to every South African individual. Successful individuals will gain experience on how to take care of the ill and any other experiences.

This Department gives qualifying and gifted individuals an opportunity to learn and gain experience within the medical field. Thus, stabilizing the need to skilled medical professionals throughout the country. Successful candidates will have an opportunity to work in a field they love and assist those who need it most.

This Department offers selected individuals a four-year program to learn and gain valuable skills within their selected field of medical care. They also give one and two-year learnerships in the nursing field.

  • Neonatal Nursing Science
  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Midwifery
  • Theatre Nursing
  • Enrolled Nursing
  • Clinical Specialization
  • Social Auxiliary work
  • Professional Nursing
  • Pharmacist Assistant
  • Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary

Requirements

Individuals who would like to pursue a career within the health industry and wanting to partake in a learnership offered by this Department will need to meet all stipulations as requested. This Department prefers individuals aged between 18 and 35. All documentation must be certified and certification has been done within a maximum of three months prior to the application.

  • Individuals must be a permanent citizen of South African
  • Individualsmust be in possession of a valid ID document
  • Individuals must have passed Matric / Grade 12 
  • Individuals must stay within the area they are applying in
  • Individuals must be unemployed
  • Individuals must be proficient in English, read, write and speak
  • With Life Science and Biology subjects is preferred
  • Individuals must be computer literate

  • Must have great life skills, compassion, and a caring nature

Application process

The application must be fully completed and then returned with the suitable records and certification as is stipulated in the advertisement. Each learnership advertised will be for acceptance by selected individuals to commence the following year. Successful individuals will also be required to enter into an agreement with the Department.

Interested individuals must submit their application forms immediately when applications open. The department provides this Learnership program every year. The closing date will be stated in the application form.
