About the Department of Tourism Learnerships Programme
Tourism Learnership program aims at to opening new doors for talented individuals who are interested in starting a career within this industry. Tourism has been doing exceptionally well after the apartheid regime. Department gives selected individuals a dream and a lifetime knowledge. Learnerships Available
This Department has a wide variety of field to offer talented, young individuals. Individuals must, however, ensure that the Department has the field they are interested in applying for available before applying.

This Learnership program also encourages young talented individuals to develop their skills. The program usually takes place for a period of 12 months or longer. After the completion of this program successful individuals may be given a permanent position.
Learnerships Requirements
- Individuals must be 18 years old but must also be less than 35 years old.
- Individuals must include their curriculum vitae with other important information that could be helpful in their applications.
- Individuals must provide a certified ID copies which are not older three months.
- Individuals must be a permanent South African citizen.
- Individuals are usually only allowed to do one learnership, through one of the Departments.
- Individuals with disabilities are welcome to apply to all Departments of Government.
Candidates will also require to the following:
- Matric / Grade 12
- English ? read, write and speak
- Proficiency in one other National Language
- Candidates must be Computer knowledgeable
- Individuals must not have a permanent employment
- Be self-motivated, able to work independently and a team player
- Must show flexibility with a commitment to learn and show enthusiasm towards working
- Candidates must be able to work under pressure
- Candidates must be innovative, professional, honest, ethical and a great listener
Learnerships Application process
Online Application is made available during the year depending on the need within the Department. Some of these learnership application forms can only be collected at the Departments involved. Most of the Government learnerships will be processed on a Z83 application form. This form must be accompanied by all relevant documentation.
Individuals must make sure that they have completed their application forms and are signed otherwise they will not be taken into account. Qualifications will be checked thoroughly so and any late submission will be discarded.
Individuals who are successful will be contacted and an interview arranged. If you have not been contacted within 3 weeks to 3 months after closing dates, you can consider your application unsuccessful. Applications that are faxed or e-mailed will not be taken into account .
Learnerships by each Department of Government are advertised as they become available yearly. Candidates can also find more information with their local Departments of Tourism, University Campus Career Centers or keep an eye on the press for learnership advertisements.
