About the Five Group Construction Learnership Programme

Learnerships formally integrates a student’s academic studies with work experience. This programme aims to provide opportunities to tertiary students to complete their required practical training.

Group Five considers taking on students from universities of technology for on-site in service training to enable them to complete their compulsory one-year practical experience.

Group Five has been running learnerships since 2006 for both employed and unemployed people. Examples of learnerships during the year include:

Eighteen disabled learners were selected for this programme by Group Five. The learnership covered topics such as information handling, customer service, andcommunication.

The programme affords learners the opportunity to integrate people with disabilities in the administration function in the workplace. The 12 month programme incorporated six months of classroom training and six months of experiential training.

This programme offers learners to develop skills that will enable them to become junior managers. It is aimed at employees who intend to follow a career in management.
